2009 Spring Turkey Season in progress April 11 - May 17, 2009.
Tyler Michel takes a gobbler April 11, 2009 and another gobbler April 14, 2009 - 24 pounds and 24 1/2 pounds!!!!
Ernest Tharp from LaPine OR takes a gobbler on April 12, 2009. If you think that you can not enjoy a hunting trip due to health problems, think again!!! Ernie is on dialysis but it did not slow him down at all. Ernie hunted hard for 4 days getting close to many different gobblers. Some gobblers were "henned up" and would not come to a call. One gobbler could have been easily harvested but was facing straight away at about 15 yards. Ernie could not identify it for sure as being a gobbler until after it flew away! ( could have been a hen) With the gobbler facing straight away it could not be identified by seeing a beard or a head. As a sportsman Ernie did not take the shot. Finally two large gobblers came to a hen call and Ernie sqeezed the trigger on a 24 pound gobbler with an 8 inch beard and 11/8 inch spurs. During the 4 long days (14 hours per day hunting) Ernies guide never heard a complaint of any kind from Ernie. Feel free to contact us and give Ernie a call for reference if you wish.

"Randy: Having hunted 17 states and 2 provinces your "Merriam Turkey Hunt" a couple weeks back Apr. "09" ranks in "MY"top 3 hunts ever!!! I had fun and success which is hard to beat anywhere. You fed me well, then ran my flat lander butt off and made my hunt for 2 large Merriam birds one of the most exciting and really great hunts ever in MY book. I'm proud of the 2 birds which at 24 1/2 #s should make anyones hunt. My 9 1/2" bearded pure white tipped Merriam will look great on my conference room wall next to the Osceola and Eastern hanging there from last year. I'm wii be sending a deposit$$ for next year as
I wouldn't miss it for anything, as YOUR hard work & dedication was out standing as an outfitter and what really made my hunt, I recommend "Mussellshell Outfitters" to any one that wants exercise and a great time in a beautiful place, plus the chance for a really beautiful Merriam Wall Hanger!"
