MUSSELSHELL OUTFITTERS, LLC IS A MEMBER AND SUPPORTER OF THE MULE DEER FOUNDATION
On this hunt you would arrive on day 1, get settled into camp and have an evening meal. You would then hunt days 2, 3, 4, 5, and depart on day 6 after a continental breakfast. This includes 5 nights lodging with all meals, and 4 days hunting. If you add antelope to this hunt you get an extra nights lodging with all meals, and an extra day to hunt. We have some excellent archery deer hunting opportunities for both
mule deer and whitetail.
On this hunt we use treestands and blinds
between feeding and bedding areas as well as spot and stalk methods.
You can expect to see large numbers of deer on this hunt as well as
bachelor groups of bucks. In the past we have done very well by hunting
mornings and evenings and not disturbing deer while they are bedded
down mid-day. Hunting this way often allows the deer to keep a routine
which makes for great opportunities with a bow. For whitetail, huntng
near food sources produces quality bucks. For mule deer we may mix it up a little more by hunting feeding
areas, water holes, and spot and stalk in the vast rim-rock canyons.
Our rim-rocks here can be a huge asset for taking muledeer with a bow.
Whitetail over 140 inches and mule deer in the 160 plus range are
common here.
If you hunt hard the entire hunt, then you will stand a
great chance of taking a nice buck. We have had a 4 point rule for many
years, meaning any deer taken must have at least 4 points on one side.
This rule keeps the quality up, but still allows the client to be
selective. On this hunt we ask you to choose which species you are most
interested in taking. This way we can plan to get you into the best
areas for either mule deer or whitetail. Your license will be good for
either whitetail or mule deer, so a client could change their
preferences quickly if a large buck of either species tempts you!!!
