Do
Musselshell Outfitters, LLC understand hunting with a bow and know how to
get close
to game? Yes. Your outfitter is a bow hunter and knows that keeping scent down,
playing the wind currents, good camo and using
the terrain are all essential for successful bowhunting. Overall opportunity
for bowhunters with us is about 95%. We very rarely have a bowhunter
who does not
have an opportunity. An opportunity is any time you are 40 yards or less from
the desired game while in the field hunting. However attitude of the
hunting guest
will usually he the deciding factor for opportunity. Most bowhunting guests will
have several opportunities. We always do our pre-season homework. Hard
work plus
a positive attitude equals success!
Bowhunting
Elk
Our elk hunting is archery only. It is virtually impossible to
draw a permit to hunt this area for elk with a rifle. It's a bowhunter's dream.
There are bull elk in this area that will score 400 Boone & Crockett points!
Half of our hunting guests see bulls that score 350"+ every season. We have
at least three opportunities at 350"+ elk every season. These are free ranging,
wild elk. If you are an elk hunter you know that these facts are extraordinary,
but true. If you are going to bowhunt elk, you might as well hunt where there
are big elk. Private land insures that the general public doesn't run over you.
Bow-hunting wild elk doesn't get any better We only book hunts for the period
of time when the elk are in rut. We use bugles and cow calls to bring them in
close. We occasionally use stands and blinds. We also use natural wallows and
food sources to our advantage. Many guests have had multiple shot opportunities at
300"+ bulls! This hunt books up quickly, so book early for availability.
All hunts are available in combination. Contact us for
a current price list for details and different options.
Bowhunting
Muledeer
Our early season muledeer are still in velvet. Blinds, stands
and spot & stalk are all methods used for bowhunting muledeer with us. 25
to 28 inch (outside spread) muledeer are common in the areas we hunt. Getting
set up, or stalking, between feeding and bedding areas are most productive. This
hunt can be alone or in combination with elk and/or antelope. Contact
us for

Bowhunting
Whitetail
Stands and blinds are used for hunting whitetail. There are
180 point Boone & Crockett whitetail in our area and 140 point whitetail are
common. A bowhunter committed to 'sitting it out" will have an excellent
chance of getting a shot at 40 yards or less, at a 140" plus buck. These
facts are based on a five-day hunt, with a hunting guest that will wear rubber
boots and is concerned with scent (keeping human scent down). Whitetails can be
hunted alone or in combination with other species. Contact
us for a current price list for details and different options.
Bowhunting
Antelope
If you are a bowhunter and have never
hunted antelope, you don't know what you are missing. At first the idea might
seem impossible. However success rates can be very high if you know antelope habits
and know the area. We use blinds and decoys to get close. Antelope bow season
coincides with the rut. Also antelope have to drink water, and only cross fences
in certain places (they don't like to jump fences). Many of the antelope you will
see will make Pope & Young. There are Boone & Crockett class antelope
in the area we hunt as well. As a bowhunter it is very important to put an arrow
in the vitals of an antelope. Taking a poor shot will usually mean a wounded animal
that gets away. We take all precautions to prevent this from happening. An antelope
taken with a bow is a real trophy. This hunt can be booked alone or in combination
with other hunts. Contact us for a current price list
for details and different options.
